Nomination and Election
Conditions for the election of fellows
Academic achievements: Candidates should have made significant contributions in the field of science and technology, such as major inventions and creations, important research achievements, or solving key technical problems in major scientific and technological projects.
NOTE: There shall be proportion of at least 60% of Asia-Pacific fellows* in total number. If the required proportion is not reached, the nomination of non-Asia-Pacific fellows is postponed.
Conditions for the selection of Fellows
Academic achievements: Candidates should have made significant contributions in the field of science and technology, such as major inventions and creations, important research achievements, or solving key technical problems in major scientific and technological projects. The specific threshold includes:
Publish 100+ papers in international journals or conferences, of which at least 7 papers are the first author or corresponding author;
The paper shall be cited no less than 1500 times, of which at least 7 papers shall be cited no less than 100 times per paper;
The sum of the impact factors of the paper shall not be less than 150, and the impact factor of at least 7 individual papers shall not be less than 7;
Received no less than 5 international awards or honors, with at least 1 being a high-level award (such as the Nobel Prize, Turing Prize, etc., will be directly elected);
Hold no less than 5 senior positions in international academic organizations, with at least 1 serving as chairman or similar level;
Participate in no less than 5 international cooperation projects or plans, with at least 1 being a high-level project.
Social contribution:
No criminal record or legal sanctions;
Adhere to academic ethics standards;
No academic fraud or plagiarism;
Not participating in illegal election activities;
Respect intellectual property and privacy;
Pay attention to the impact of technology on the environment and society, and comply with relevant regulations;
Participate in public welfare activities and provide assistance to the community;
Support the education industry and the cultivation of successors.
Nomination
Nomination rights: APTSA Fellows, and technology related organizations in the Asia Pacific region have the right to nominate candidates.
Nomination restriction: Each nominator can only nominate one candidate for each additional election.
Nomination materials: Nominators are required to submit detailed resumes, lists of major achievements, full texts of representative papers, and recommendation letters from at least three recommenders.
Submission and Review: The nomination form and related materials must be submitted within the signatures, and after initial review by the APTSA Committees, they must be forwarded to the professional team.
Confidentiality and standardization: Nomination information must be kept confidential, and nominees, candidates, and recommenders are not allowed to engage in illegal election activities.
Selection
Professional Group Setting: APTSA establishes a professional group responsible for evaluating candidates.
Selection criteria: Candidates are evaluated comprehensively based on academic achievements, social contributions, and other factors.
Final candidate list: Each professional group determines the final candidate list based on the evaluation results.
Summary and Publicity: The Secretariat compiles the list of candidates for all professional groups and publishes it on the website.
Election
Voting rights: All APTSA Fellows have the right to participate in voting.
Voting method: anonymous voting can be conducted through mail, email, or online platforms.
Voting rules: The elected Fellows are determined in order of the number of votes based on the number of additional seats.
Result announcement: The voting results will be compiled by the Secretariat and reported to the APTSA Presidium for approval before being announced.
Interpretation rights: The interpretation of these rules is the responsibility of the APTSA Presidium.
